The Tucson Bird Alliance is hiring a full-time In-House Strike Team Crew Member to support native habitat recovery across ecologically sensitive areas in southeastern Arizona. This field-based role focuses on invasive plant species management through identification, mapping, treatment, and monitoring efforts in high-priority landscapes.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and treat invasive plants using manual and chemical methods
- Maintain application records, tools, and field equipment
- Support habitat restoration, erosion control, and sustainable landscaping
- Communicate with partners, volunteers, and the public about project outcomes
- Work collaboratively with the CoATIS Federal Strike Team and other field staff
- Certified Applicator License through AZDA Pest Management Division within 90 days of hire
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License
- Certified Applicator License (or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Experience with invasive plant management in arid environments
- Proficiency with GPS, maps, Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to hike up to 8 miles in rugged terrain and work outdoors in extreme conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with chainsaws, herbicide spray tools, and small engine maintenance
- Familiarity with Sonoran Desert habitats and local invasive species
- GIS experience and trailer towing capability
- Passion for hands-on conservation work in remote and challenging conditions
