In-House Strike Team Crew Member (Tucson Bird Alliance)

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Compensation: $21.18/hr (without certification) or $21.43/hr (with certification) + Full Benefits

The Tucson Bird Alliance is hiring a full-time In-House Strike Team Crew Member to support native habitat recovery across ecologically sensitive areas in southeastern Arizona. This field-based role focuses on invasive plant species management through identification, mapping, treatment, and monitoring efforts in high-priority landscapes.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and treat invasive plants using manual and chemical methods
  • Maintain application records, tools, and field equipment
  • Support habitat restoration, erosion control, and sustainable landscaping
  • Communicate with partners, volunteers, and the public about project outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with the CoATIS Federal Strike Team and other field staff
  • Certified Applicator License through AZDA Pest Management Division within 90 days of hire

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License
  • Certified Applicator License (or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Experience with invasive plant management in arid environments
  • Proficiency with GPS, maps, Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to hike up to 8 miles in rugged terrain and work outdoors in extreme conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with chainsaws, herbicide spray tools, and small engine maintenance
  • Familiarity with Sonoran Desert habitats and local invasive species
  • GIS experience and trailer towing capability
  • Passion for hands-on conservation work in remote and challenging conditions
