Location: Tucson, AZ (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-time

Position Overview

The Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection (CSDP) is seeking an Executive Director to lead one of Southern Arizona’s premier conservation organizations. This position provides strategic leadership and oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations, working closely with staff, the Board of Directors, coalition members, government agencies, community partners, and donors to advance conservation throughout the Sonoran Desert. The Executive Director serves as the public face of CSDP while guiding advocacy, fundraising, communications, and organizational management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and organizational direction
  • Supervise staff and oversee daily operations
  • Manage the organization’s budget, fundraising, and financial health
  • Build and maintain relationships with coalition members, partners, elected officials, agencies, and donors
  • Lead conservation advocacy, policy initiatives, and strategic planning
  • Oversee communications, public outreach, branding, and media engagement
  • Support and collaborate with the Board of Directors
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and mission-driven organizational culture

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in conservation, policy, planning, advocacy, or a related field
  • Management and nonprofit leadership experience
  • Fundraising and donor development experience
  • Experience managing organizational budgets
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of land-use planning, environmental policy, or conservation issues
  • Public speaking and community engagement experience
  • Spanish fluency is preferred
