AZGFD Sport Fishing Assistant

JOB TYPE: Full-time

SALARY: $11 / Per Hour

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under direct supervision from the Conservation Education Program Manager and the Sport Fishing Education Coordinator, the Sport Fishing Education Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance with the deliveries of fishing related programs and outreach statewide.  Assists with the repair of equipment, prepares equipment for the rod loaner program and delivers Fishing Education programs. Provides support to the Sport Fishing Education Coordinator at events and trainings.  Perform other duties as assigned.  This assignment is a temporary appointment and will end no later than May 30, 2017.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate will have knowledge of and/or in: proper and safe handling of a variety of fishing related equipment, various fishing techniques; safe procedures in delivering programs, utilizing fishing equipment; knowledgeable in fishing regulations and practices in Arizona. Candidates must be skilled and able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, use basic computer applications with the emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and provide customer service to both internal and external customers. The preferred candidate will have completed the Certified Angler Program and have experience in public speaking and delivery of educational programs and working with a variety of fishing related equipment.

A Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card will be required.  Employment is contingent upon completion of a post-offer medical/physical examination and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions. Medical/Physical examination will include a baseline blood lead level and a baseline hearing test, both which will be conducted on an annual basis.

Position requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).
