The Nature Conservancy is hiring a Fire Ecology Field Technician based in Flagstaff, Arizona to assist with fire monitoring work in Northern Arizona’s forested landscapes. This temporary full-time position runs through December 2025 and offers hands-on field experience for those passionate about fire ecology, forest health, and data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fieldwork (90%) collecting ecological monitoring data in pre- and post-fire forest environments
- Measure fuels, forest structure, and navigate to field plots using GPS
- Use tablets to record detailed field measurements
- Participate in Arizona Chapter meetings and administrative tasks (10%)
Work is based out of Flagstaff with frequent field days across Northern Arizona.
What You’ll Bring:
- Associate’s degree in natural resources or equivalent experience
- Experience working outdoors and collecting field data
- Strong attention to detail and basic GPS/tablet familiarity
- A passion for conservation and fire-adapted ecosystems
Pay Rate: $19.61–$21.00/hour
