On-call Biologist

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Transcon Environmental is seeking several on-call wildlife biologists with experience working with the Mojave Desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) to assist in environmental compliance, surveys, and construction monitoring activities. Positions will be filled as projects demand. These positions are primarily field-based, requiring biological surveys of project sites, and on-site monitoring of construction sites. The successful applicants should live in or near Arizona, Southern California, Nevada or Utah. Applicants should be able to work long days in the desert. This is an on-call position, and hours will vary from 0 – 60 hours per week based on project needs. Workers will be reimbursed for expenses such as food and lodging when traveling. Applicants must have a clean driving record for at least 5 years prior to the start of work. Offers of employment will be contingent on passing a pre-employment and annual drug and alcohol test. This will be a non-exempt (hourly) position that will pay overtime in accordance with state wage and hour laws. |
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a degree in an environmental resource field. Previous desert tortoise experience is required. A history as an authorized desert tortoise monitor or authorized biologist is desirable. Prior attendance to a Desert Tortoises and Field Techniques Workshop and previous construction monitoring are a plus.
