Mule Deer Foundation Buck Springs Allotment Fence Removal

Project Location: We will be working in the Limestone Ranch area, which is in the southeast portion of the Mogollon Rim Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest.
Project Begins: Saturday September 9th, please arrive at camp by 8:00 AM. This is a one day project for all attendees.
Project Activity: We will be removing fencing in the Buck Springs Allotment which was retired from livestock grazing in 2006.
Benefits: This fence project will improve the ability of big game species and other wildlife to move more freely and safely across the landscape.
HPC Grant Benefits: All volunteer work hours and mileage will be used as in-kind match.
Meals: Please provide your own lunch to eat in the field on Saturday. The MDF will provide dinner for all volunteers on Friday and Saturday nights and continental breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
What to Bring: Work gloves, pliers, snacks, water, and personal gear.

Directions to Camp:
From the Phoenix area take either State Highway 87 north through Payson or I-17 north to State highway 260 at Camp Verde then east to Highway 87. From the junction of Highway 87/260 go east on Highway 87 for approximately 2.6 miles to FR 300 (Rim Road). Go east (right) on FR 300 for approximately 22 miles and go north (left) in FR 137. Proceed on FR 137 for 7.3 miles and go east (right) on FR 600 and proceed .3 miles to camp (Limestone Ranch). Estimated travel time from Phoenix is about 2.5-3 hours.
From Flagstaff take Lake Mary Rd. south to state Highway 87 (Clint’s Well). Take a right on 87 and go approximately 9.2 miles to FR 300. Go east (left) on FR 300 for approximately 22 miles and go north (left) in FR 137. Proceed on FR 137 for 7.3 miles and go east (right) on FR 600 and proceed .3 miles to camp (Limestone Ranch). Estimated travel time from Flagstaff is about 1.5-2 hours.
Note: Forest Road 96 is closed due a faulty bridge on Barbershop Canyon. Hence the designation of this alternative route.
