Event Overview
Registration is now open for the 2026 Introduction to the Mojave Desert Tortoise Course, offered by the Desert Tortoise Council. This introductory training is designed for wildlife professionals, students, natural resource specialists, land managers, and anyone interested in learning more about Mojave desert tortoise biology, ecology, and field survey techniques.
The course combines two live online lecture sessions with a required one-day field workshop, providing participants with both classroom instruction and hands-on experience. While completion of the course does not grant authorization or permits, it is widely recognized as valuable training for those pursuing desert tortoise survey and monitoring work.
Course Highlights
- Learn Mojave desert tortoise biology, ecology, habitat, and conservation
- Gain an introduction to desert tortoise survey techniques and field protocols

Registration includes both online lecture sessions and one field workshop day. Lecture-only audit options are also available.
