Phenology Study In-Field Training

Join the MSC’s Phenology team and botanist Steve Jones to check the status of the lifecycle of plants along the interpretive trails.  See what plants are blooming, what trees are leafing, what fruit is ripening. Phenology is nature’s calendar – when saguaros bloom, white-winged doves build nests and young leaves appear on a velvet mesquite.  This study will help assess the effects of global environmental change, such as long term drought and urban nutrient depositions, on the lifecycle of Sonoran Desert Plants.

Located at the Lost Dog Trailhead in Scottsdale, AZ
