
Help Wanted! Grasslands Wildlife Area Pond Construction
June 2 - June 21
The Arizona Game and Fish Department, in partnership with the Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy (ARC), is seeking volunteers to assist with constructing six ponds at the Grasslands Wildlife Area near Springerville, Arizona. These ponds will help increase water availability and permanence across the landscape, benefiting native species such as Chiricahua leopard frogs, pronghorn, and other wildlife.
Volunteer Activities Include:

Removing rocks from dry pond bottoms

Placing and securing pond liners
-
Reseeding pond banks after construction

Additional Information:

Tools such as shovels, rakes, and work gloves will be provided. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own tools.

Free, primitive camping is available at the Grasslands Wildlife Area for volunteers. (Volunteers must bring their own camping gear. A portable toilet will be available; there are no showers or other facilities.)
