AZGFD Black-footed Ferret Spotlighting

October 13, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - October 17, 2016 @ 6:00 am

Free
  • « Saguaro National Park (Rincon Mountain District) Weedwackers
  • TWS 23rd Annual Conference – Raleigh, NC »

The Black-footed Ferret Project will be hosting 2 5-night spotlighting events in Aubrey Valley  on October 13-17. Spotlighting will begin on Thursday night and conclude on Tuesday morning for both events.   These events will be held to assess the ferret population before the winter, to trap ferrets that were not caught in the spring, to try and trap older ferrets that need a canine distemper or plague booster, and to trap kits to give them vaccinations.

Because ferrets are being seen in areas where we normally do not spotlight, we will have some teams go out and spotlight these new areas to try and trap these ferrets.   Besides ferrets, other animals that could be observed during spotlighting include foxes, badgers, coyotes, owls, hawks, porcupines, skunks, and pronghorn.

Dress appropriately!! Multiple layers are best, rain gear is highly recommended. Bring plenty of snacks and water!
